The next IUSA service day will be a Service Day for the Homeless which will take place on the 6th December 2014 in support of the Peter McVerry Trust. This will take place from 10am to 4pm in the Peter Mc Verry Trust facility in Marabone Lane, Dublin 8.

The aim is to carry out a Christmas Service day for the 35 residents living there. We will be painting, gardening and freshening up the back yard area – while indoors we will bring Christmas to the entire reception and living room area – With festive decorations, lights, soft furnishings and of course a Christmas tree.

In advance of the day we will also be launching a gifts and essential supplies appeal for all the young men and women in the facility. At 12 noon on the service day we will be joined by Ambassador O’Malley and Fr Peter Mc Verry.

To make this happen we need your time, energy and support. Please let us know if you can make some part of the day which will finish around 4pm. We will run in two shifts 10am – 1.00pm and 1.00pm – 4.00pm or any times inbetween that you can spare.

We would appreciate if you could bring a decoration or plant along with you. We will issue you this week with a gifts list of the likes and needs of the 35 residents – your help would be hugely appreciated!

Our friends in Notre Dame and in the Youth council along with Embassy staff will be joining us – so together let us make December 6th a day of hard work and Christmas joy for all.

Please contact events@irishusalumni.ie. if you have some time to spare on the day, feel free to let us know which shift would suit you best and how you can help us in supporting the Peter McVerry Trust for this Christmas Service Day.

We do understand how busy everyone can be at this this time of year so your time and commitment are truly appreciated.

Warm Wishes,

Cathy Quinn and the IUSA team.
