Saturday April 26th – 10am to 4pm – Women’s Refuge – Rathmines road, Dublin 6.
This year in giving back to the community the IUSA and friends are looking to help the Women’s Refuge Centre based in Rathmines.
We hope to transform their outdoor grounds and court yard and we are also seeking donations of second hand of good quality clothes, toys and general toiletries.
Rathmines Women’s Refuge opened in 1986 and can accommodate ten families i.e. women and their children. Women can access the service 24 hours per day 365 days per year. The refuge is open for admission to women who are fleeing Domestic Violence, which is physical, emotional, psychological, sexual or financial abuse.
We need your help – Your Time, Talents, Energy or Donations would be greatly received.

If you are available on April 26th, there are two shifts during the day to help cleaning up the grounds and beautify the gardens. You are welcome to volunteer for one or both:
10am – 1pm and 1pm – 4pm – Please note which area you wish to help with: gardening, general cleaning, or painting.

The Refuge are also looking for a number of essential items for the shelter. You can bring items with you on the day or drop off at Localise HQ ( details below)
For the Children’s Playroom:
1. Board games: Pop Up Pirates, Jenga, Connect 4, Monopoly, Chess, Draughts, Guess Who, Operation, Twister, Pictionary, Snakes&Ladders, Lego, Frustration etc.
2. Art Supplies: Poster Paint, PVA Glue, Paint Brushes, Children scissors, Crepe paper, Childrens aprons for painting, Colour paper. Card, Glitter, Pritt sticks, lollipop sticks, pipe cleaners, feathers etc, Playdoh, Modelling clay, Blank Canvases for painting, Face paint, Markers, Crayons, Colour pencils, Coloured ribbon.
3. Consoles & Games: Playstation 2 or 3, X Box, Any console games, D.V.D’s for all ages, Vtech interactive games for toddlers.
4. Outdoor toys: Bikes, Scooters, Littletyke Bubble Car. Blow up swimming pool, outdoor sand pit with lid.
5. Toys: Dolls, prams, Barbie dolls, Dress up costumes for all ages, Action man, Toy cars, Train set, Jig saws, Baby toys From 0 to 1yr. Toy animals, Doctor set, Nurse set, My little pony, Footballs, Tennis balls and Rackets, Cash Register, Dolls clothes & accessories bottles etc, Toy kitchen, plastic food, toy trolleys.
General Items for the Women:
Duvets, Pillows, Pots pans, Kettle, Cushions, Towels, Mugs, Bedding, general house hold items.
Mops, Sweeping brushes, hair brushes, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner
They also accept clean second hand women and children’s clothes, shoes, P.J’s, dressing gowns.
Cannot come on the day but would like to Donate:
Derek Cleary from Localise – IUSA Alum and main co ordinator on the day will be accepting donations at Localise HQ from now until the day of service. Localise HQ is located opposite the womens refuge at 22 Lower Rathmines Road. Derek can be contacted on 087 699 7281.
