J1Connect

On September 25th, US Embassy Dublin presented J1 Connect, the Biggest Alumni Networking Event in Ireland at the RDS. More than 150,000 Irish have participated in the J1 program over almost 50 years.  J1ers are everywhere in Irish business, politics, academics and culture.

The US Embassy invited anyone who ever went on a J1 Summer Work and Travel Program, or any other US exchange program, to take the experience one step further and join the J1 Connect event.

The day included prominent J1 speakers from the world of politics, business, academics and the arts.   Workshops will covered a variety of topics including understanding US visas, studying in the US, strategies for setting up business in the US, insider tips on travel trends, and coaching on professional networking.

A J1 business showcase also highlighted the huge impact the J1 has had on Irish entrepreneurs and business. Introduced by US Embassy Dublin’s Chargé d’Affaires Stuart Dwyer speaking from a Cadillac podium on the importance of the J1 , the day ended with a spirited performance by Derek Ryan and band – for those who never learned to line dance on their J1, and for those who did.
